In 2012 my partner and I bought a small holiday accommodation in Gualdo, Le Marche, Italy. After more than a year of full time renovating, we opened our doors at the end of 2013. We have been doing really well, helped by the Dutch TV program Ik Vertrek and great reviews (9.8 on Booking.com). Until August 2016 and subsequent earthquakes that hit central Italy, which destroyed our own house(s). Although the holiday apartments have remained undamaged, we had to close our door for the 2017 season due to the damaged buildings forming part of the same property and the upcoming (re)building activities. Although obviously a setback, we are pretty sure that something good or even better will come our of this. Last year we have become an agriturismo, combing agriculture with tourism. We planted 96 olive trees, are about te become bee keepers (in a modern way) and will develop the rest of our 5 hectares of land step by step. We have a passion for food and wine and the beautiful nature surrounding us here in Le Marche. We have 5 cats, all orphans and very little dull moments. You can follow my Italian adventures here!
